The proposed Karzakan seafront project is currently awaiting funding approval from the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry. Project documents value the development at BD1.87 million. Local officials have submitted the plans for the site located in Bahrain to determine if the requested capital will be allocated for the construction phase. Almoayyed Contracting remains attached to the project alongside project leads Zainab Al Durazi and Mohamed Darwish, who await a final decision on the budget. The ministry has not provided a specific timeline for when the financial review will conclude. Completion of the seafront development remains contingent upon these pending funds.

Scope of Proposed Development

Development plans for the Karzakan seafront encompass a total area of 12,333 square metres. Designed to enhance public access to the coastline in Bahrain, the project features a diverse array of amenities. The facility layout includes a sandy beach and a dedicated seafront walkway. Additional infrastructure plans consist of paths for walkers and cyclists, designated play areas, sports courts, and various cafés. The inclusion of these specific facilities is intended to maximize the utility of the 12,333 square metres designated for the seafront site.

Procurement for the site involved a competitive bidding process. Six firms submitted formal proposals for the project, with offers ranging from approximately BD1.7 million to BD3.7 million. Although Almoayyed Contracting is the designated firm for the construction phase, the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry requires further financial authorization before finalizing the agreement. The Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry is currently seeking this additional funding approval to award the contract to Almoayyed Contracting. This financial step is necessary to bridge the gap between the initial bids and the current project valuation of BD1.87 million.

Northern Municipal Council member Zainab Al Durazi noted that the government body is currently finalizing the necessary administrative requirements. "The ministry is now completing the steps needed to secure approval for additional funding ahead of the contract award," Zainab Al Durazi stated. She added that the development aims to provide infrastructure for the local population. "The project will provide a full range of leisure facilities for residents and visitors and help improve quality of life," Zainab Al Durazi said. Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry officials continue to seek these additional funds to move the proposal forward.

The project remains a priority for local representatives who are working to ensure the site's transformation into a recreational hub. By incorporating a sandy beach, a seafront walkway, paths for walkers and cyclists, play areas, sports courts, and cafés, the development team intends to create a full public space. Project lead Mohamed Darwish is also coordinating with relevant departments to ensure that the site specifications remain aligned with the requirements set by the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry. As the process continues, the focus remains on securing the capital necessary to begin the construction phase. With the administrative steps nearing a conclusion, the ministry is expected to provide further updates once the budget allocation is finalized for the Karzakan seafront.
