Muharraq Municipal Council member Dalal Al Moqahwi has reported that roads in several blocks are in poor condition, requiring immediate digging and repaving. Describing the current state of infrastructure, Dalal Al Moqahwi stated, "When you drive along the road, the car dips because the ground has sunk." She pointed to specific hazards near local educational facilities, noting, "The streets near Busaiteen School are worn out. Students, parents and cars use them, so we need to have them repaved." Beyond vehicle damage, the council member expressed concerns regarding public safety and sanitation. "When the ground is worn out, someone walking could fall," Dalal Al Moqahwi explained. "And when sewage overflows, it gets into the cracks and causes smells."
Muharraq Municipal Council member Dalal Al Moqahwi has reported that roads in several blocks are in poor condition, requiring digging and repaving. This assessment notes a growing need for maintenance across the designated municipal zones to ensure the longevity of the local infrastructure. The council member emphasized that the current state of these surfaces is not only inconvenient but presents a risk to the daily commuters and residents who rely on these routes for transport and access to essential services.
Sinking Roads Threaten Drivers
Wali Al Ahd Avenue in Block 209 is experiencing significant sinking, which results in vehicles dipping while in transit. This subsidence creates hazardous conditions for commuters navigating the area. Residents and local officials have identified the road surface degradation as a primary concern for the structural integrity of the street. The ongoing degradation of the foundation beneath the asphalt layer has been identified as a critical factor in the recurring issues reported by those traversing the area.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Avenue in Block 205 requires repaving and pavement repairs to address existing cracks and general wear. The current state of the road complicates travel and necessitates intervention to restore the pavement to a functional condition. Proper maintenance on this avenue is expected to mitigate the risk of further damage to vehicles and improve traffic safety for the local community. The council is evaluating the necessary resources to ensure that these repairs are completed to a standard that prevents rapid re-emergence of surface faults.
Two roads located in Block 203 are currently missing interlock paving. The absence of this foundational material exposes the ground to environmental wear and contributes to the overall deterioration of the local road network. Municipal officials are monitoring these streets as part of the broader effort to address infrastructure gaps across the municipality. The lack of interlock paving has led to uneven surfaces that further complicate the management of road maintenance in this block.
Streets in Block 203, Block 209, and Block 221 near Busaiteen School require full repairs and new paving. The high volume of traffic near this educational facility places additional strain on the road surfaces, leading to rapid degradation. Full renovation of these specific routes is required to ensure safe access for students, parents, and vehicles operating in the vicinity of the school. The council remains focused on prioritizing these areas to facilitate safer transit for the school community and local residents.
