The High Criminal Court in Bahrain has commenced proceedings against two 34-year-old men accused of kidnapping, unlawful detention, assault, and knife-point robbery. The court has begun hearing the case involving the two men, who are specifically charged with kidnapping and unlawfully detaining two individuals. They are also accused of assaulting both victims and robbing one of his phone at knifepoint. The defendants allegedly held two individuals against their will and robbed one victim of his phone during an incident that originated in Salmabad. This serious case has drawn attention as the legal process unfolds. The High Criminal Court has adjourned the case, with the next hearing scheduled for September 13, allowing further investigation and legal preparations.

Assault and Kidnapping Unfold

The incident began in the Salmabad area, setting the stage for the alleged crimes. The first defendant reportedly lured a 42-year-old Bangladeshi driver to a meeting, initiating the sequence of events. Following this initial encounter, the two defendants allegedly assaulted the driver before forcing him into their vehicle. The confrontation escalated when a colleague of the driver, who attempted to intervene, was also reportedly assaulted during the struggle. This intervention attempt notes the volatile nature of the situation as it unfolded.

During the unfolding events, the first defendant is accused of threatening the driver with a knife, brandishing the weapon to intimidate the victim. He then seized the driver's phone, taking possession of the personal device. The phone was subsequently used to contact a 34-year-old Russian woman, with the apparent intent of obtaining her location. The defendants used the stolen phone to send a message to the woman, compelling her to a specific area. Subsequently, the woman arrived in Al Hoora after receiving a message from the victim’s phone. Upon her arrival, she was reportedly assaulted and compelled into the vehicle, further extending the scope of the alleged kidnapping. The defendants then transported her to the first defendant’s residence, where she remained until law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, bringing an end to her unlawful detention.

Evidence and Formal Charges

Security footage supported the victims’ accounts of the incident, providing corroborating evidence for the events described. This visual evidence played a key role in substantiating the allegations made by the victims against the defendants. During the investigation, police recovered the first victim's phone from the first defendant, directly linking him to the alleged robbery. This recovery served as a key piece of physical evidence in the case. Both defendants admitted participating in parts of the incident during questioning by authorities, providing key statements that contributed to the prosecution's case.

The Public Prosecution subsequently charged the men with multiple offenses, reflecting the severity and multi-faceted nature of the alleged crimes. Among the primary charges levied against them are robbery by force and kidnapping. Further charges include unlawful detention through force and threats of serious harm, showing the coercive methods allegedly used by the defendants. Additionally, assault charges have been formally brought against them, according to official statements from the Public Prosecution. These charges collectively paint a picture of a serious criminal act involving multiple victims and various offenses.

Legal Proceedings and Custody

Both defendants in the case remain in custody, according to court records, pending the resolution of the legal proceedings. Their continued detention reflects the gravity of the charges they face. The High Criminal Court has scheduled the next hearing for September 13, as the judicial process continues to move forward. This upcoming hearing will be a critical step in the trial, where further evidence may be presented or arguments heard. The Public Prosecution has charged the men with multiple offenses, including robbery by force and kidnapping, as outlined previously. Additional charges include unlawful detention through force and threats of serious harm, along with assault, detailing the full extent of the alleged criminal actions. Security footage and the recovery of the first victim's phone from one of the defendants supported the victims' accounts during the investigation, providing compelling evidence for the prosecution. Both defendants admitted participating in parts of the incident during questioning by authorities, with their statements forming a significant part of the evidence. The court will continue to examine the evidence and testimonies as it seeks to deliver justice in this complex case.
